Orienteering training


 

Two one day orienteering courses are being held for leaders to show how to train young people for orienteering events.

 

The first is for cub scout leaders on Saturday 17 March 2012 at Plas Newydd, Llangollen.

 

The second is for scout and explorer scout leaders on Sunday 18th March 2012 at Craig Fawr National Trust Site and Dyserth Community Centre

 

No previous orienteering experience is expected, there will be practical sessions on both days. Both events starting 9.30am, finish around 4.45pm.

 

Training is by Helena Burrows. Helena is the most highly qualified orienteering coach in Wales. She is an accredited tutor, assessor and internal verifier for the British Orienteering Federation, and tutors all the orienteering coach education courses at Plas-y-Brenin.

 

There is a maximum of 12 places on each day. The course is free, funded by Denbighshire CC. Course joining details will be sent out when booking confirmed.

 

This course is expected to fill up quickly. Return the booking form together with a £10 cheque payable to 'Llangollen District Scouts'. Cheque will be returned on the day.
