Scout Network is the fifth and final youth age range of the Scouts for men and women aged 18 to 25.

Anyone can join whether or not they've been a member of the Scouts before. You get to take part in an mixed programme of activities, gain stuff such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, and go on overseas expeditions.

Members can become an adult Leader with one of the other Sections, working with young people aged 6 to 18, or just be a member of Network.

Clwyd Network covers NE Wales, including the local authorities of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

The camp site is in walking distance of St Austell, which has a nightclub and some good pubs. The approximate cost for the camp will be £80. The camp is being organised by Hannah and Tom, who are Network leaders within the area. If you are interested in going, please could you contact me by 4th May 2009.

New Network Commissioner

Clwyd has a new Area Scout Network Commissioner. Mark Jones has taken over from Anne-Marie Roberts, who stood down from the position in the summer.

Scout Network is open to anyone aged 18 to 25 and is the fifth and final training Section. Members take part in a huge variety of activities and have access to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, the Explorer Belt and Scouting's top badge, the Queen's Scout Award.

Many Network members are also adult Leaders and so the development of this Section is of huge importance.

This is a message from Mark:

My name in Mark Jones and I'm 22 years old. I have been in Scouting since they age of 6 and am currently an ASL with 1st Marchwiel. I have just returned from university in Leeds where I studied maths and stats and currently am training to be a maths teacher.

I have a lot of ideas for Network, but ideas won't work without members. In order to make Network as accessible as possible, due to the size of the area I would like to set up local Networks, who meet as often as they like. Then there will be one Area Network event per month organized by either myself or local Networks, and also I was hoping to have something like a climbing night once a month. Anyway, these are my thoughts, but it is what Network members want that counts.

I would like to tell you that Network membership fees are free this year, but you will need to sign up. Membership forms can be found here or you can come along to our joining event for which details are below. I hope to be in touch soon telling you the venues of where your local Network will be meeting. If you would like to find out more information about Network, please contact me on network@clwydscouts.org.uk
