Flag and Banner 23/06/2010
Last night the cubs we split in to two groups, one group was making the flag and the other was making the banner in anticipation of RexJam next week.
They made the flag based on the ideas that they had put down the previously. The ideas that they had come up with were very good, giving a good depiction of the things that we actually do in cubs.
After they had finished they went out give for a quick game whilst inside was tidied up. at the end Pari gave out some more badges to those who weren't there when they were given out previously.
At the beginning of the night we had a wood carver come to see the cubs and get their ideas for what they wanted on our section of the totem pole that we are having in the garden to celebrate 1st Rhosnessni's 100 years.
Letter were also given out to those who are going to RexJam. This is just a reminder that the last £10 is due if not already paid. This has to be paid by next Wednesday, as it is to pay for the food.
Also it tells you about the suggested kit list, this is only suggested it is not necessary to bring all of the items on the kit list

Molly the Police Dog 26/05/2010
The cubs had a treat this week, the police had brought Molly & another trainee drug dog in.
The cubs were first told about why the police need dogs like molly and the type of things she helps the police find.
Molly was then brought in and after her command of her PC. She started searching.
She spent a while going along all the chairs - we later found out this was because the drugs that were now 'concealed' had been brushed along all the items that were on the chairs.
Molly then showed alot of activity by the cd player, the cubs were then told this was because she had found the source of her scent.
After Molly had done her search the cubs met a trainee drug dog and played a simple game of showing a ball and then hiding it.
The cubs then had a picture with the dogs before they went.

Road Safety 21/04/2010
I wasn't there for this week so this is a blog done by Danny
We took the cubs out for a brief walk to use their newly learned skills in road safety, they learnt the general rule of looking left and right when crossing, they walked in a line as they knew it was safer than all bunched together, we then taught them how to use a pelican crossing properly - the cubs did this very well. We then walked back to the hut and on the way back we left the cubs to use their new skills, by walking along side them and only directing them when then did something wrong. The cubs enjoyed going for their road safety walk.

Map reading and Collector 24/02/2010
Sorry for the lack of an update from last week i was in London on Law College trip.
Last week we were learning how to map read and thinking of different things that the cubs could collect to obtain their badges.
two groups were learning how to use a map, how to use the key on a map, how to use a 6 figure grid reference and how to north a map. they were doing this with the young leaders, as Pari's map reading skills are a bit rusty.
Then the other group were with Pari discussing what different things that they would like to collect so that they can obtain their badge.
