Beaver scout meeting
At the beaver scout leaders' meeting on the 6th February, the following was discussed...
District sleepover
3rd March - Chirk
9 groups showed an interest in attending the sleepover in Chirk. It was decided that each group could take two children each (Rhosnessney and Bishops Own have two groups each so they could take four) making 22 in total.
If places are so popular we could book two nights for next year and split the groups up into two. Final decision will be made at the sleepover. The theme will be 'Royal Weekend'
We have one idea that we used at an Area event many years ago so can you please save your coloured sweet wrappers.
Meeting on the 22nd February to plan the event at 7.30pm.
District hike
This was originally booked for march 24th but as we have received information about a world event called jamboree on the trail we thought this would be something we could be part of.

It is on the 12th May at 2pm-4pm and the location will be Erddig. A picnic will conclude the event. If the week before you do work on your hike badge and may be some easy map work to complete the requirements for the hike stage one. Michelle is going to do a check and work out a route ready for us. Badges can be purchased and worn on the jumper click here to purchase the badges if you wish. I shall register our participation.
Scout branding
The use of new scout logos and letter heads is a great way to show people that we belong and it looks pleasing to the eye and puts a little more excitement in to your event but also the way a letter is worded also help. Be more friendly in your wording. For more info see scouts.org.uk/brand. Moz is going to update record card so that when you have a new child start you give them out to parents and they will include gift aid. Consent for photographs, allergies etc.
November party
Liz and Kelly are going to check out an entertainer for the party on the 20th October.
Diary events
There are a few events that are coming up this year that are for leaders. They include the jubilee beacon lighting, leaders exchange weekend and the St Georges day afternoon meal. These are good social events and it would be nice to see new and old Beaver leaders attending. All of the dates are on the calendar but emails with more details will be sent out nearer the time of the event.
Training dates
A list of training dates was given to leaders for them to check with their assistants to see if there are any training modules that they need to attend. Leaders attending training should speak to their training advisers to see what module they need to attend and which ones are covered by work etc.
Leader contact details
We have asked that you let us know all of your contact details to make sure that you receive all of our communications, but what you really need to check is that all of your details are correct on MMS so that you receive information from everyone. Please could you check. Just log in on to the scout webs and click on my profile.
Programme ideas
We had a few ideas for programmes including science.
To make a lava lamp. Plastic bottle, ¾ vegetable oil, ¼ water, food colour, level teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda.
Take a dish of water, cover the surface with pepper. Take a cocktail stick dipped in washing up liquid and watch the pepper disperse when the two touch.
Scott of the Antarctic. Make sledges and skies. Put up a tent, See Teresa for more info of what she does for this evening.
Speak to Glyndwr university about their flight simulator or other thing that they have to offer. If there is a charge, join up with another group to cover the cost.
Wrexham Rugby club will arrange a session for you if you contact them.
